Marchesa's Fairy Tale

A whimsical fairy tale, comprising naive girls walking through the woods in ballgowns — that was the look at Marchesa.

A whimsical fairy tale, comprising naive girls walking through the woods in ballgowns — that was the look that hairstylist Harry Josh and makeup artist Talia Shobrook went for at Marchesa Wednesday afternoon.

Josh, creative consultant for the John Frieda brand, led the Frieda team, which did three different looks: a do with a side part and loose waves, a ponytail and a down look that was "rough dried" with the hands for volume and spritzed with Frieda's Luxurious Volume hair spray.

The ponytail and down dos had a matte finish while there was a shine to the loose waves.

Meanwhile, Shobrook, who was working on behalf of Nars, evened out faces with a sheer, neutral base. She then applied a white base to the eyelids and over that added a dash of brown color. The eyebrows were "messy. I pushed them up in all directions," said Shobrook, who added a touch of mascara to lashes.

A fleshy mauve hue was patted onto the lips, then in the middle of the mouth, Shobrook applied a light base and went over both lips with a powder, for a soft effect.
