Feelgoodz is bringing a Hawaiian spirit to its first collaboration, set to debut in mid-May.
The Jack Johnson by Feelgoodz line, created with musician and Hawaiian native Jack Johnson, includes a version of the flip-flop label’s rubber women’s Slimz sandal and the leather men’s Kinderz style. The footbed of the $25 Slimz uses artwork from Johnson’s latest album, “From Here to Now to You;” the $50 Kinderz pays homage to the original version of the flip-flop. The offering is limited to 2,500 pairs of each style, and all proceeds will benefit the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, a nonprofit focused on environmental education founded by Johnson and his wife, Kim.
Feelgoodz founder Kyle Berner said the partnership came about after some of the brand’s sales reps met Johnson’s team at an event supporting urban gardening.
“That’s how the connection started — and the next time [our reps] ran into them, they were all wearing our product,” he said. The items chosen for the collaboration, Berner added, were the couple’s favorite styles.
The flip-flops will be available for sale online at Feelgoodz.com and at Jackjohnsonmusic.com, as well as through Johnson’s upcoming tour.
“We may add a few [retail] doors — one in Hawaii and maybe a few select others — but we wanted to keep it exclusive for the first year,” Berner said. “We think it will sell out pretty quickly.”
