DALLAS GEMS: Jewelry designers jetted in from both coasts and France, while customers flocked from as far as Minnesota to celebrate Ylang 23’s new, bigger digs Wednesday at the Plaza at Preston Center in Dallas.

“Everybody who’s anybody is here,” said Muffin Lemak, threading through the dense crowd. That included designers Nak Armstrong, Andrea Fohrman, Catherine Michiels (all the way from Provence), Jemma Wynne’s Stephanie Wynne and Jenny Klatt, and David Rees and Ron Anderson of Ten Thousand Things.

“I think it’s amazing,” Rees said, glancing about the SoHo-meets-Paris decor. “Whenever you show people how seriously you take yourself, they agree.”

About 300 people packed into the boutique over the course of a few hours to hobnob and admire the jewels, vintage furnishings and a huge black-and-white triptych photo of Paris.

“We’ve been open 18 days, and we’re running close to 50 percent above last year,” said Charles Teichman, a Parisian native who owns the store with his wife, Joanne. “The Web is up but the store is dramatically up. It’s perfect since I went way over budget with the new store — I didn’t, but Joanne did. It couldn’t come at a better time.”

The 29-year-old jewelry store and its thriving Internet business were, of course, already well established in their former home at Galleria Dallas. Noted Rees, “We come down and have the biggest trunk shows year after year, so I just think of Dallas as the land of opportunity.”
