THE GOOD LIFE: Signaling once more that he’s just not ready to retire from the public glare, Valentino Garavani is releasing a book with Assouline in November. On the heels of Giancarlo Giammetti’s “Private,” “Valentino: At the Emperor’s Table” showcases the designer’s lavish lifestyle, i.e. the houses, the parties, his style of entertaining, including table settings, and general appreciation for beauty.
“When you enter his world, you enter the world of luxury; you enter a rare and opulent, yet warm space,” writes André Leon Talley in the introduction.
Oberto Gili was tapped to shoot the photographs, including homes in Gstaad, Switzerland; London, and Château de Wideville outside Paris. “I am very often alone and enjoying my houses,” Valentino says in the book. “Entertaining 30 or one is the same; the food has to be on a beautiful plate.”
