SIMPLER SPURR: Simon Spurr is merging his two collections for fall. The U.K.-born designer said Tuesday that he will eliminate the Spurr moniker in favor of an expanded presentation under the Simon Spurr name. Spurr — who designed men’s wear for Yves Saint Laurent, ck Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren Purple Label and Black Label — has achieved success since branching out on his own in 2006. His business launched with three styles of American-made selvage jeans under the Spurr name but quickly expanded into a full collection. The Simon Spurr designer collection debuted in 2009, at which point Spurr was repositioned as a more affordable contemporary brand, the designer explained.
The move to integrate both labels is designed to provide “one focused message to the consumer,” said Spurr, who stressed that the lower-priced options will continue to be offered under the Simon Spurr name to maintain the “stretch of price points.” The new collection will be shown in Milan during men’s fashion week next week followed by Paris, New York and Las Vegas.
