NO SCRUBS: Reem Acra has had a lifetime connection to the American University of Beirut Medical Center: She was born at the hospital in the Lebanese capital, and spent her childhood days running in its halls, as her mother worked in its Family Medicine Departent and her father served as chairman of the Department of Environmental Health. Her brother, Sari Acra, even studied medicine there. Now the designer, who is based in New York, is giving back to the hospital by creating uniforms for its staff, which were just unveiled. “The AUBMC is near and dear to my heart,” Acra said. “[It] played a major role in my life in Beirut, so I am honored to have the opportunity to design and produce these elegant uniforms, to aid in recognizing a staff that is at the heart of this caring institution.”
