NEW ENDING: “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” the Costume Institute’s spring exhibit, was originally scheduled to be on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art May 9 to Aug. 11, but the museum has decided to extend it by three days. The new Aug. 14 ending is not in anticipation of the visitor rush on the show but is a reflection of a famous quote by The Clash guitarist Mick Jones, who once said that punk only lasted for 100 days in its purest form at the Roxy, London’s legendary punk haven in the West End. Curator Andrew Bolton stumbled across the quote while watching a documentary for research. “We thought it would be great to channel that in the exhibition,” Bolton noted. If it allows more punk fans to see the show, all the better. “We certainly hope that’s the case,” he said.
