ONWARD AND UPWARD: U.K. deputy prime minister Nick Clegg helped to launch Mulberry’s second British factory on Friday. Based in Somerset, England, The Willows is the label’s second facility, and was build with help from government funding. The British government’s Regional Growth Fund also handed the brand, whose chief executive officer Bruno Guillon stepped down this week, 2.5 million pounds, or $4.13 million, towards recruiting and training 300 employees from the region.
“This new Mulberry factory is a major boost to the economy of the area, creating hundreds of new jobs thanks to this government’s Regional Growth Fund, said Clegg. “Mulberry is an international fashion brand based in Somerset, and I am pleased that that the Government is able to offer assistance to help them expand. Companies like Mulberry and the people who work here are helping us to build a stronger economy and a fairer society for this generation and the next.”
