GREEN AMBITION: Kering has scooped the inaugural FIR Prize of Analysts for Socially Responsible Investment, which is awarded to companies for outstanding environmental, social and governance efforts. The French group has come up with a system of calculating its environmental footprint covering its entire supply chain from production of raw materials to distribution. To date, about half of the group’s turnover is already screened by the tool, which subsequently translates the collected data into monetary value.
By 2016, the group — whose stable of brands includes Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent and Puma — is slated to issue a report revealing the total of its green data, which in the future will allow the firm to compare its efforts on an annual basis and help make sustainable decisions.
Marie-Claire Daveu, chief sustainability officer and head of international institutional affairs at Kering, called the project a “cornerstone on our journey to sustainability.”
The Forum for Responsible Investment, or FIR, tapped French and European analysts and managers, as well as investors, for the jury.
