GRAND SALE: Talk about price promoting. Retailers in Grand Central Terminal on Feb. 1 will scale back prices 100 years on certain items, and not for clearance. It’s to celebrate the centennial of Grand Central Terminal and its architectural grandeur.
Many of the terminal’s tenants — there are 68 stores and 35 dining options — will have giveaways for the first 100 customers, deals at 1913 prices or in iterations of 19 and 13 in limited quantities. Among the fashion and beauty deals, Jo Malone is giving out two free perfume samples and hand and arm massages to all visitors. At Vince Camuto, the first 100 people to make a $50 purchase will get a hot pink Camuto iPhone cover. Swatch will have 10 cent nylon watch straps for the first 500 customers. And the Leather Spa will give 10 cent shoe shines.
On the food side, Pescatore will sell shrimp at 19 cents each, and clams and mussels for 13 cents. Financier Patisserie will have five-cent small drip hot coffee, and Tri Tip Grill will be serving french fries for 10 cents from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., among the many food bargains. Target doesn’t have a store in the terminal but is sponsoring the centennial events, which include a rededication ceremony, musical performances, and the opening of the “Grand by Design” exhibit chronicling the history of Grand Central Terminal.
