LUX AND LEATHER: Paris-based fashion brand VSP and Hussein Chalayan have teamed for a three-season collaboration, which will see VSP’s signature leather and other fabrics reinterpreted by the London-based designer of Turkish-Cypriot origin.

The women’s wear capsule collection comprised of 20 pieces ranging from dresses to jackets is described as “melding artistic and architectural references” and “create brave new forms,” Chalayan’s declared specialty.

“First of its kind for the Chalayan brand, I feel that the collection will be a strong culmination of design, innovation, craftsmanship, playfulness and desirability,” said the designer, while VSP’s chief executive officer and creative director Kadri Soygül added: “[A] collaboration with a fashion designer and artist like Hussein will not only bring a new dimension to our brand, but to the innovative luxury market in general.”

The collection is slated to launch in tandem with the opening of VSP’s first Paris flagship in September at 19 Rue Debelleyme in the Marais.

VSP was founded in 2007 by the Vespucci Group, the 25-year-old Turkish leather and shearling specialist that manufactures leather products for various high-end fashion brands.
