BURCH FOR THE BARNES: At around 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jeff and Justine Koons, Richard and Marcia Mishaan, Marigay McKee, Vito Schnabel and Daniel Romualdez met at the Club Acela lounge of New York’s Penn Station before a quick day trip to Philadelphia. Tory Burch recently joined the board of the Barnes Foundation and was throwing a dinner there for about 90 with Jeanne Greenberg-Rohatyn and Samantha Boardman Rosen to mark the occasion. Bento boxes whipped up by chef Ryan Hardy of Charlie Bird restaurant in SoHo awaited the guests on the train.

“I’m a new board member, and I don’t join many boards,” said Burch at the Barnes. “But it really wasn’t much of a decision. I’ve always felt like this is such a unique treasure and more people need to see it. And that’s the point of tonight.” As for Burch’s personal art collection, she said, “I’m not a big collector yet. But one day.”

Also in the group were Simon de Pury and communications mogul Robert Allbritton, a Barnes rookie whose late father Joe was a serious collector.

Koons met Burch through a mutual friend. “I’ve always loved the Barnes, but it’s really special to be here with this community of friends and people that are very deeply involved with art. You can see how everybody is absolutely amazed at the power of the collection,” he said. For the ride back, the New Yorkers were served nightcaps of Macallan whisky.
