ANDREW JENNINGS TO BAKER BOARD: Andrew Jennings is getting busy again. He’s just joined the board of Ted Baker, the British lifestyle brand, as an independent non-executive director. “It was Ray Kelvin — his innovation, his drive, his vision and his store environments which attracted me to the business,” Jennings told WWD, speaking highly of the brand’s founder. “Ray and his team have the ability to keep this brand edgy and ‘of the moment’ constantly updating it to remain relevant to a modern customer. You only have to visit the New York Fifth Avenue store to see what I mean. It’s not just the product. It’s the whole retail experience.”

Jennings, who vacated his chief executive job at Karstadt in Germany two weeks ago, and in November became a senior retail adviser to the board at Myer department store in Australia, said he’s been following Ted Baker for over 20 years. “In the early Nineties, when I was general manager of Harrods and the Ted Baker business was small, I knew it was going to be a business of the future. It’s developed into an international lifestyle fashion brand now covering women’s, men’s, children’s and accessories.”
