LONDON — AllSaints is bringing its New Music Cities films, which aim to put the spotlight on a city’s emerging musicians, to London.
Monday will see the east London-based retailer debut a series of films exploring south London’s music scene, with performances by artists including Beverly Tawiah, a soul vocalist who performs as Tawiah; Kwes, a producer and singer-songwriter, and Mount Kimbie, an electronic music duo made up of artists Dominic Maker and Kai Campos. Meanwhile, more established artists including Katy B and Roots Manuva will appear in a documentary film in the series about the area's music scene.
AllSaints has collaborated with Dazed Vision, the video content division of Dazed Group, of which Dazed & Confused is part, to create the films. They will debut today, Jan. 20, at allsaints.com/film.
AllSaints has already created a series of films about New York’s music scene, which were shown on its Web site starting December 2013, while films that showcase artists from Gothenburg, Sweden, and Tokyo are set for the coming months.
Wil Beedle, creative director of All Saints, commented: “The whole purpose of the New Music Cities series is to scratch the surface of the global music scene. By searching beyond the most documented artists, we’ve been able to discover some incredibly exciting and daring musicians.”
