Jennifer Aniston and her celebrity hair stylist, Chris McMillan, are working together again. But this time, it’s not over a salon chair.
McMillan, who created the The Rachel cut for Aniston’s role in “Friends” in the Nineties, has joined Living Proof, the Boston-based beauty company that the star joined last fall as a co-owner and hair care spokeswoman.
McMillan will join a high-power crew at Living Proof, including cofounder and editorial stylist Ward Stegerhoek, cofounder and salon owner Mitch DeRosa and creative director Tim Rogers.
In addition to his relationship with Aniston and other high-profile celebrity clients, McMillan was sought for his extensive red carpet experience and his high standing within the salon community.
Jill Beraud, Living Proof chief executive officer, noted that he is so imaginative and prolific in cutting hair that he creates hair styles. She noted that McMillan will provide the company with a connection to the salon community. “He will help us develop more cutting-edge products with his tremendous energy and ideas while using his incredible talent to inspire stylists and consumers everywhere,” she said.
McMillan, who owns salons in Beverly Hills and Malibu, Calif., said this is the first time he has stepped into an endorsement role. But he was sold on the efficacy of Living Proof’s products. McMillan said people from the brand’s roster of scientists talked about creating a molecule that increased penetration of the hair. He dutifully listened, but then when McMillan started using the products in his salons, he was won over by how the product made hair look and feel.
He added, “It worked; it’s simple — period, and it’s not complicated.”
Stegerhoek stated, “Chris is a really gifted stylist and amazing when it comes to cutting hair. He knows how to create looks that women want — aspirational but attainable at the same time.”
